SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

Today was the last of our phase - 2 internship programme at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Kanayakulangara. We reported at the school at 10.00am and met our subject teachers. All the lesson plans got signed and marked attendance in the register. The feedback forms were filled by the respective subject teachers and the headmistress. It was a different experience for all of us by taking classes digitally in this COVID pandemic period and it made us really techno pedagogues.

 CONSCIENTIZATION PROGRAMME

Today was the last day of online interaction with the students as part of the teaching internship. We conducted a conscientization programme on the topic 'Online Learning and Health'. The programme was organized by me and other two student teachers, Anatte V Chacko and Karthika Mohan. The session was started at 8.00pm and all students from eighth standard were invited. Pupils were actively responded in the discussion session and a feedback form was provided at the end of the session.

PEER TEACHING

 Today was the fifth peer teaching session of mine conducted on the topic 'Ionic Bonding' of higher secondary syllabus of Chemistry. The peer teaching session was a shared class done by Riya Johnson, Deepika D V and me. We planned to conduct the session by role play. But due to the limitations in online mode we were not able to reach at its perfection. The entire class was recorded and class was done in zoom platform.

CONSCIENTIZATION PROGRAMME PREPARATION

Today I prepared for the conscientization programme on 23/02/202. The topic selected was 'Online Learning and Health'. I prepared a brochure for the programme in word and a feedback form was also prepared to collect the feed back from the students. The programme was planned to conduct on 23/20/2021 at 8.00pm. The contents were included in the power point and finally a video was attached that was done by us as a part of our health club activity.

REMEDIAL CLASS

Today I took the remedial class for the students after the analysis and calculations of diagnostic test. I provided a lecture and video link for the better understanding of the difficulty area identified. The further doubts and explanations were done via whatsapp. The material provided a clear idea to the students about the basis of ' characteristics of waves'. All students got a clear picture about their difficulty area and were abled to attempt the follow up questions.

DIAGNOSTIC TEST CONDUCTION

Today I conducted diagnostic test on the topic 'Characteristics of Waves'. The questions were in the form of fill in the blanks and there were five questions and each carries one mark. There were no time limit for the submission of responses. The question were send via whatsapp for the ten students attempted the achievement test. Students responded on that day itself and I got 10 responses day from the students on that day.

DIAGNOSTIC TEST PREPARATIONS

Today I had done all the statistical analysis of the achievement test conducted on 13/02/2021. After the calculations and analysis, I found out the difficulty area of topic in students and prepared diagnostic test. As the number of students were less in responding the achievement, I planned to conduct diagnostic test for all students who attempted the achievement test. The area of difficulty was ' Characteristics of waves' and prepared basic questions from the topic.

TEACHING PRACTICE SESSION

Today was the third day of my class for standard eight. The main concepts dealt in today's class were 'Hard water and Soft water', Water pollution. I practiced a new mode of approach in today's class by conducting an inquiry training model . Initially the responses from the students were less due to an unfamiliar approach. But from the second phase of the model onwards they asked questions. It was a pretty good class. The slides presented were relevant.

PEER TEACHING

 It was my fourth class of peer teaching on the topic ' Transition Elements' from the higher secondary level syllabus of Chemistry. The session was a shared class with other two student teachers Bodhi S Dharman and Surya S Karun. The entire class was recorded and uploaded in YouTube. The class was done in zoom platform.

The slides contained relevant images and videos that enhanced the curiosity and interest in the class. Students responded to the questions which I asked in between the class. Achievement Test Conduction

Today I conducted the achievement test for the 9th standard students. The exam was conducted at 8.00pm. The exam was scheduled for one hour but due to technical and network issues raised by the students I extended the time limit to 14/02/2021 11.55pm. The responses I received was very few and a lot of students raised their inability to attempt the exam due to network issues.

Today I prepared the blueprint and all other designs required for the achievement test for the ninth standard students. The achievement test was prepared on the unit 'Wave Motion'. The test was prepared in google form for 25 marks with all objective questions. There were three parts in the test. Part - A questions carries 1 mark for each question and there were 5 questions. In Part - B there were 5 questions and each questions carries 2 marks. The Part - C session consisted of 2 questions and each question carries 5 marks. The exam was planned to conducted in a time limit of one hour.

TEACHING PRACTICE SESSION

Today was the fourth day of my internship. After each classes I was feeling a great delight and confidence. Even though in the first classes I was a little bit anxious about the number of students I got to interact directly via google meet, today after my fourth class I got a number which is far better than the first class. Toady I took the class on the topic 'seismic waves and Tsunami' which is the continuation of 'wave motion' chapter. It was a familiar topic for the students so that they were able to interact more in the class.

Today I felt so good that, after my 2 classes I got around twelve students in the online google meet class session. The more highlight of today's session was all the students were interacted very enthusiastically and they gave quick responses for my questions. The session began at 8.00 pm and ended at 8.30pm. I dealt with the topic 'ultrasonic sound and its uses'. After the online session I posted the notes in the respective whatsapp groups for the entire students.

TEACHING PRACTICE SESSION

It was my second class for the 9th standard students on the topic 'sound'. There were a lot of new comers in the session so that I had to recall the previous class for the entire class. I got a lot of students response in today's class. There were some network issues raised in between the class which made the class a little bit. After the online interaction session via google meet, I shared the notes in the whatsapp group for the entire students. The online session ended at 8.30pm. Some of the students interacted through whatsapp to clear their doubts regarding the concepts taken in the class. It was a pretty much better day than the previous class since I got around 8 students for interacting in the online session.

SCHOOL ACTIVITIES       

The phase - 2 internship program as a part of my B.Ed. curriculum was started on 8 February 2021 at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Kanyakulangara. There were ten students from our college to this school. We reported the school at 10am. Before handing over the attendance register and other schedule for the internship to the headmistress Smt. Saha V V we were assigned for the Hindi enrichment program conducted in the school 'SURELI HINDI'. The program was conducted over the state wise as an initiative by the government. Parents of UP classes were presented in the meeting. The launching of new video was done. The program was over by 11.00 am. After the program we met the headmistress and handed over the attendance register and schedule for the internship program classes.

TEACHING PRACTICE SESSION

The teaching practice session of the internship program was conducted in online mode for the students in standard 9C and 8D. The first class was for 9C students from 8.00 - 8.30pm. The topic assigned for me was 'Wave Motion'. The class was done via google meet. The concepts was presented using slides. Images and videos related to the topic were added in the slides. For assessment online quiz creating 'Flexi' software was used. Even though there arise a lot of technical and network problems I was able to deliver the content successfully. 

PHASE 2 INTERNSHIP

 The phase-2 of internship program started on 8 February 2021. Everyone reported in the respective schools by 10am and handed over the attendance register and schedule for the internship program. The classes were conducted in online mode for the 8th and 9th standard students.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION TEACHING PRACTICE ASSESSMENT

 The physical education teaching practice assessment was done on 2 February 2021 under the guidance of Dr. George Thomas sir.

ARTS AND AESTHETICS ASSESSMENT

The assessment of arts and aesthetics as a part of B.Ed. curriculum was done on 2 February 2021. Each group performed different programs related to the contemporary issues. There was an assessment of the assignment on the topic 'New trends in carnatic music'.

DISTRIBUTION OF SCHOOLS FOR PHASE 2 INTERNSHIP

 The schools for the phase 2 internship program was done on February 1, 2021. I got Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Kanyakulangara. We went to the respective schools and received the timetables from the respective subject teachers for the online classes. 

I got 9C students for teaching Physics and 8D students for teaching Chemistry. The online classes will begin on 9 February 2021.

B.Ed. PROJECT PRESENTAION AND EVALUATION

 As a part of B.Ed. curriculum a project was undertaken under the guidance of Dr. Giby Geevarughese, entitled as 'Preparation of a learning material for enhancing numerical ability among secondary school students in Science'. The final project presentation and evaluation was done on February1, 2021.
